FLORENCE, Ky. – Anthony Brocato hit two home runs, Andres Sthormes knocked three hits, and Jared Cheek delivered his best start of the season in a 15-6 Florence Y’alls victory over the Gateway Grizzlies.

The Y’alls (17-20) jumped on Grizzlies’ starter Clint Freeman right away, plating three runs in the first inning. Florence would not lose the lead for the remainder of the game. The Y'alls added runs in four additional innings to pad the advantage.

The best batting average in the Frontier League hit above their baseball cards today. All ten batters reached base for the Y’alls, despite the Grizzlies outhitting Florence, 13-10. Four Y’alls reached at least three times in the contest. Florence is batting an outstanding .300 as a team through 37 games.

This support proved to be more than enough for veteran starter Jared Cheek. In his first start back from the injured list, the right-hander allowed only one earned run in five innings pitched. Cheek earns his first win of the season. Freeman takes the loss for Gateway.

It was not the cleanest of ball games, however. Gateway committed five errors, Florence two. This is an uncharacteristic showing from two of the league's top five fielding teams.

The bounce-back win secures a fifth consecutive series win for Florence. The Y'alls have not lost a series since Joliet swept them nearly three weeks ago. Florence is 10-3 in its last 13 games.

The Y’alls certainly have to make their home games count, with lots of travel coming up. Florence plays 14 of its next 17 games on the road, starting in Washington on Tuesday night.

The Florence Y’alls are Northern Kentucky’s professional baseball team, and are proud members of the independent Frontier League, an MLB Partner League.
