June 23, 2022 Home Game
June 24, 2022FLORENCE, Ky. – The Florence Y’alls saw their four-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the Evansville Otters. The Otters beat the Y’alls 11-5 at Thomas More Stadium on Thursday night.
Evansville entered this series as the best power-hitting team, as well as the best pitching team in the Frontier League. After a pair of Florence victories to start the series, the Otters played to their strengths in a lopsided win tonight.
Brett Adcock allowed three runs in five innings for Evansville, picking up the win. Jonaiker Villalobos takes the loss for the Y’alls. The Otters’ bats backed up the pitching with five multi-run innings, including four home runs for the most homer-happy squad in the league.
Florence’s first two runs came by way of a Ray Zuberer home run, his second of the series. Alberti Chavez provided the other three. The shortstop drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the fifth, and knocked a two-RBI triple in the ninth.
Despite playing from behind for most of the night, Florence’s bats nearly matched Evansville’s in output. The Otters only outhit the Y’alls 13-11, with Florence hitting .314 in the loss.
The Y’alls take the series from Evansville at home, two games to one. Florence (15-19) has eight wins in its last ten games, and four consecutive series victories. The Otters (22-13) continue to keep pace as the second-best team in the Frontier League’s west division.
The six-game home stand at Thomas More Stadium continues with a three-game weekend set against the Gateway Grizzlies. The opening game is tomorrow night at 7:03 p.m. Jake McMahill is Florence's projected starter.
