July 7, 2022 Home Game
July 8, 2022FLORENCE, Ky. – The Lake Erie Crushers had the bats working on Thursday at Thomas More Stadium. The Florence Y’alls did not. The Crushers defeated the Y’alls 4-0, handing Florence its first shutout loss of the season.
Lake Erie scored a run in four different innings, including a pair of solo home runs from Kemuel Thomas-Rivera and Jake Gitter. The Y’alls only brought 30 batters to the plate to record 27 outs. Florence only advanced one baserunner into scoring position.
Andres Rios had two of Florence’s four base hits, all four of which were singles. Zuberer and Axel Johnson picked up hits as well.
Alex Wagner took the loss for the Y’alls, allowing three runs in 5.1 innings. Tommy Siemer, in his debut, helped out the bullpen by dealing the final 3.2 innings of the game. Lake Erie’s Jay Alvarez hurled six scoreless frames to earn the win.
The Y’alls are swept for the first time at Thomas More Stadium, as their losing streak is up to ten, the longest active streak in the Frontier League. Florence has been outscored by 22 runs over the span, and only averaging 3.5 runs per night, far below its season average.
Florence does not have the benefit of an off day, either. The Y’alls are back on the bus tomorrow for a series in Evansville against the Otters. First pitch is set for 7:35 p.m. eastern time.
